Activity 1: Natural Deportment

This activity covers the practical application of Natural Deportment characterisation concepts to lab/site based raw data to generate Response Rankings (RR) for a set of samples. Complete the supplied table to calculate a Response Ranking (RR) and Standard Deviation for each sample from the supplied assays and masses.

Activity 1 Notes:

  • Calculating sample grade: sum the product of all masses and grades and divide this by total mass
  • Mass and Metal Percents are calculated relative to the feed material
    • Mass% = fraction mass / feed mass
    • Metal% = (fraction grade x fraction mass) / (feed grade x feed mass)
  • Cumulative values are calculated from the finest size up
  • The Response Factor (RF) for this table is calculated from cumulative metal over cumulative mass
  • RRequation
  • Sample Response Rankings are calculated by the average
  • Standard deviations can be calculated in excel using the '=STDEV()' function
